The airlock can be installed in a barrel or on the top lid of a tank, then wine is poured into the airlock until the correct level indicated is reached. Then, the top lid of the airlock is closed tightly, and water is poured around this lid to prevent air from entering inside. When necessary, wine is added to the airlock to keep the barrel always full.
