Thymol Recipe for Varroa Treatment:
Action:
These natural compounds are volatile, their vapors descend to the bottom of the hive, exerting their action directly on the adult mite (Varroa).
Dilution:
Heat 1 liter of food oil to 50º, pour 100 grams of granulated thymol, stir until completely dissolved, let cool, put 20 ml of the finished product on each piece of previously cut sponge. This operation should be done in a well-ventilated area as it releases a strong odor irritating to the respiratory tract and eyes.
The strips, once prepared, can be stored for a long time; just protect them individually in food cling film and store them in the cold, always ready to be used.
Mode of Use:
Place a sponge soaked in the product on top of the hive.
Or:
In a small perforated box, pour 5 grams of thymol and insert it under the top board above the frames in the center of the hive,
Let it act for a minimum of 8 days.
We recommend repeating this operation 20 to 25 days later.
This treatment should be done at temperatures between 15º and 25º for it to be more effective.
